About the studio — and the rules we work by
The website is the receipts.
Bayaan is an independent British Muslim media platform — documentaries, journalism and evidence-led stories about the country's oldest — and youngest — major faith community. We distribute on YouTube, Instagram and TikTok. This site exists so that when a film or a story travels, anyone — viewer, critic, journalist — can check every claim it makes.
Editorial standards
Non-negotiable from episode one
Every claim linked
Every factual claim made on camera appears in the episode's sources & footnotes block with a direct link to the primary source — census tables, archive files, monographs, FOI returns. If we can't source it, we don't say it.
Two-source rule on contested claims
On contested matters, no claim runs on a single source. We require two independent confirmations, and where reasonable people dispute the framing, the dispute is acknowledged on screen.
No silent edits
Errors are corrected in the transcript, noted on the video, and entered in the public corrections log below within 48 hours of confirmation — with a full account of what changed and why.
Independent money
Funded by grants, individual donations and future membership. We accept no funding from foreign governments. A public funding note will be published annually.
Corrections log
On the record, permanently
No corrections issued to date.
When we get something wrong, it will appear here with the date, the episode, the error, the correction made, and an editor's note. To report an error, use the story & corrections form with the topic "Correction".
Governance
The road to an institute
The studio is the first layer. As the audience and the citation layer grow, the plan is a standalone publication and archive — and, within the first year of sustainable operation, an independent editorial board with real oversight of standards and corrections. A date and terms of reference will be published here before the end of 2026.
